Larry
McCall worked for many years as a live sound engineer,
both electric & acoustic for Chick Corea, for Al Jarreau,
Al Dimeola, Wayne Shorter, Mike Stern, Herbie Hancock,
and many others. And for "Showtrends" as Chief Engineer
for corporate shows such as Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi
(that's cars as well as Big Screen TV's) and events,
such as the Emmy Award Governers Balls, building Grand
Opening hoopla, and High End private parties. Larry
started out in the industry in tech support, truly
working from the inside - out. For manufacturers such as
Harmond Kardon, JBL, United Recording Electronics
Industries and Universal Audio as service tech and QA
inspector. and for many years in tech support with
Schubert Systems Group, supporting an extensive list of
live musical tours such as Van Halen, Oingo Boingo, Toto
and many others.
During
his career, Jim McCurdy has worked with countless
producers, directors, actors, composers, arrangers,
vocalists, and musicians. He has a special affinity for
music in particular and for the performing arts in
general. Having recorded and mixed the music for perhaps
thousands of commercials, a few film scores and dozens
of album projects, he moved to Los Angeles in 1996.
Since moving to LA, (after thirty years in the NYC music
industry), Jim has continued to work with some of his
advertising clients on spots for Wells Fargo, Twix
(Usher – “It’s all in the mix”), Chevy, Michelin, Dr.
Pepper (with Righteous Brother Bill Medley), Ikea (one
with Billy Idol, one with L. L. Cool J.), and Milk (one
with Ray Charles, one with Leanne Rimes).
Since 1997 the bulk of his work has shifted toward live
mixing on a variety of events from music to corporate.
(Jim has also spent hundreds of hours of recording,
editing and mixing on Pro Tools.) As a live mixer Jim’s
aim is to make the talent comfortable, confident and let
the music speak! Here’s a small sampling of people Jim
has mixed shows for:
